My very picky cat watched me put it together and then tried unsuccessfully to tip it over once I filled it with water. But she immediately began to drink out of it. Now, like Goldilocks, she drinks from each part, starting with the tallest pool which she can drink from sitting upright, then then the second tallest pool and the larger bottom pool, finishing with the fountain. If you keep the water topped up to the maximum, the fountain is nearly silent.

I have two cats one that drinks from a usual bowl and the other only drinks from a tap. so after constantly getting up and switching on a tap and waiting for him to finish drinking I decided on the cat mate drinking fountain. This I have had for a day and its been a pleasure very easy to use and very quiet when running and no switching on of taps. its a great product at a great price and I will be back to review after a few weeks but the initial start is its well worth it and I would recommend it to all

I agree with the other positive reviews of this product - my cat loves it, it works well and doesn't make much noise... But the pump doesn't last long, even with descaling, and replacements are expensive. So much so that I've given up on catmate now, after a few years of buying replacement pumps every 6 months or so.

My thoughts on the fountain: It’s barely noticeable on the electricity meter. You can adjust the flow; I have it slow in the winter and faster in the summer, so it’s more refreshing. The filters are relatively easy to get hold of and not too pricey. I think it’s quite simple to clean (compared to cleaning out the fish tank). I can’t say I've ever noticed any noise except for when the water level is getting low. Definitely worth the money for me.

we bought one of these when we bought our second cat as they hold 2 litres of water and help to keep it cool and free of bits!the filters take out all the nasties and the water always looks clean and inviting to drink from. Our big boy cat liked to try and tip it over at first but it`s really sturdy and he`s given up now :) you can change the speed of the flow and it`s really quiet, even on a high setting. it does start being a bit more noisy when it needs topping up but that`s a good thing as it reminds us
