When cats have damage to kidney tissues, the kidneys cannot perform as well as before. The condition is not reversible, but progression may be slowed. Dietetic foods for kidney conditions are designed to help reduce workload on the kidneys, enabling them to function more effectively. Cats with decreased kidney function may experience loss of appetite and their food intake might decline. Hill's nutritionists and veterinarians developed Hill's Prescription Diet k/d clinical nutrition to help protect your cat's vital kidney function and enhance appetite and increase food intake. This dry food is made with beef and has an irresistible taste that your cat will love. In fact, Prescription Diet k/d is clinically proven nutrition to improve & lengthen quality of life.

    Good fussy eaters

I bought this food originally for Bonnie' brother who was extremely particulary. So, now that his sister has followed in his footsteps with this illness. I continue with the brand. As mentioned, Billy was very difficult and he loved it.

A renal diet that tastes cats like

Posted by Babyroo on 1st Jun 2018

My 7yr old has recently been put on a renal diet and after an attempt at feeding the brand he was sent home with, feared that we weren’t going to be able to keep it up. I ordered some Hills salmon flavour which he loved and now equally woofs the beef flavour down - such a relief. Lots of little pieces of food with plenty of gravy.

    Different flavour for our cat

Posted by JennyPaws on 5th Apr 2018

I've bought this before for our cat Bella, and she still loves it. However we are trying to find out if Hill wet has an appetite stimulant as does their dry food. Our cat is overweight so we don't need a food stimulant!

    Not for madam

Sadly the fussy old baggage just licked the gravy off this and refused to eat the chunks. And they don’t squish down into the gravy so you can’t fool the moggy into actually eating the stuff. Gave mine away to a less fussy kitty who apparently loves it.

    My cat will eat it.

I have a fussy eater who has just been diagnosed with age related kidney failure, was worried when the vet prescribed her a special diet as it took years to find a food she would eat and not upset her tummy. I mix it with the dry food she seems to like it.
