When cats have damage to kidney tissues, the kidneys cannot perform as well as before. The condition is not reversible, but progression may be slowed. Dietetic foods for kidney conditions are designed to help reduce workload on the kidneys, enabling them to function more effectively. Cats with decreased kidney function may experience loss of appetite and their food intake might decline. Hill's nutritionists and veterinarians developed Hill's Prescription Diet k/d clinical nutrition to help protect your cat's vital kidney function and enhance appetite and increase food intake. This dry food is made with salmon and has an irresistible taste that your cat will love. In fact, Prescription Diet k/d is clinically proven nutrition to improve & lengthen quality of life.

  • Clinically proven nutrition to improve quality of life and lengthen the relationship with your cat

    Excellent

I tried my Billy on pate K/D and he really did not like it. He also has Thyroid issues so I was worried that he was not eating full stop let alone the correct diet for his renal issues. He really loves this and am so pleased. He has put on some weight and happy to see him eat. I guess he likes the gravy!

Very pleased with the product. My cat enjoys eating this food and she now seems much better with this food since she was diagnosed with kidney disease.

    Feeding help

Posted by Jinx on 25th Aug 2016

After discovering our rescued cat had the start of renal failure we were advised to feed Charlie KD food. It proved difficult at first, he has always been fussy about his food. [He just hates the fake 'meat' pieces] The biscuits he adores and will eat at any time. As he has the kidney problem I am happier to know that he is having fluid each day and was not happy to feed all dry food. In desperation I tried liquidising a pouch of wet food with about a third of a pouch of water. He now eats his Hills smoothie without a problem. Following the recommended feeding guidelines Charlie now has a combination of his smoothie and biscuits. I feed the biscuits as treats in a feeding toy. This suits us both as I felt so mean not letting him have anymore treats.

    Stinky!

Stunk the house out, Royal Canin Renal Tuna is much less anti-social! Cat seems equally happy to eat either brand.
