Being moist inside, go for disguising cat medicine

    Posted by R2P2 on 31st May 2018

I used to buy these Salmon and Trout' cat treats from Natures Menu just occasionally in the past, but because I have had to administer antibiotics and steroids to one of my cats in recent months, I have been giving these treats daily to all three (I imagine it is the fish oils from the salmon and the trout which make this particular variety easier to stick back together once tablets have been crushed to powder and sprinkled in ....... a little into each of how ever many treats it takes to disguise all safely!) And ..... as the cat who is receiving medication is being treated for colitis ...... I can administer these treats without worry, alongside her vet prescribed hypo-allergenic diet, with their being free from dubious additives which could further upset her condition. I have experienced only one negative in regard to these treats which is that they have come to vary somewhat lately in CONSISTENCY of moistness and girth. Obviously the chubbier and more moist the treats are ..... the easier it is for me to cut into one with a sharp knife, press in a little channel with my thumbnail into which some powdered medication can be sprinkled before the treat is squished back together again with its 'healing powdered centre' but lately some are narrower than others .... and some seem to have been pressed with a machine which makes them dip in at a point or two along their length .... It would be helpful if the manufacturers would revert to consistency of dimensions ..... length and diameter (particularly as these treats are quite pricey for daily administration and I am going to have to be doing this for some months! (and then ..... not a bad habit to keep going with these treats anyway as the cats do seem to love them so ...... and they afford good nutrients .... and seem to be benefiting our relationships! Price varies considerably from different sources ... so shop around (I don't know whether I'm permitted to mention where I purchased mine this last time .... but let's say a supermarket which is only online ....... (and significantly cheaper from them than from high street pet shop)

    GOOD QUALITY TREATS

Posted by Cat lover on 29th Mar 2018

My very fussy Birman Cat loves these treats, right from when he was a kitten and the food recommended by the Breeder was ignored, the one thing I could always tempt him with was these treats. I would put them on top of his wet food to encourage him to eat and it works. He is now 8 years old and has renal problems, so has to eat prescription biscuits for kidneys, again I bribe him to eat them with a few of these treats on top. I like them because they contain 95% meat and not bulked out with cereal and other rubbish food. I tend to stick to the chicken and liver flavour as I have noticed in the past, the other flavours have a strong, pungent smell.

Great treats particularly for raw feeders

    Posted by lh27 on 10th Nov 2016

My kitty is on raw food, she has quite a few illnesses, mainly of gastrointestinal origin and raw food has been a big game changer for managing her condition where prescription foods and medication did not help. We think she also has food intolerances. Finding food and treats she could eat was difficult, until we found the Natures Menu food and treats. These treats are our kitty's favourite and she loves them. They don't have any adverse affect on her delicate tum at all either.

    Cats love them!

My cats are not usually bothered about treats and sometimes leave them, but they can't get enough of these and would have had the whole pack if I'd let them. Will be getting more by the looks of it...

    Great for Medicating!

Posted by Katos Mum on 30th Mar 2016

I'm having to get daily medication (tablet form) into my poorly cat. She's 12 years old and fussy. Any hint of tablets ground up in her food and she won't eat it which is a major problem as I need to keep her weight up. I feel terrible having to force a tablet down her throat when she's not well, having tried hiding the medication in various foods without success, until I found these. She absolutely loves them and because they are quite strong in flavour and slightly chewy I can hide half a tablet easily in these and she eats it all up without any problem. Brilliant!

Both of my cats enjoy this as an occasional treat. It's nice and moist & makes a change from their dry food.
