Why a 2-pin plug??
I haven't been able to use this yet because it comes with a 2 pin plug - the only available adaptors for my standard UK 3-pin plug sockets is for electric toothbrushes and razors! So frustrating?!

Cat loves it!
He took to it straight away and drinks much more which is brilliant since he prefers dry food. He likes to drink from the top of the fountain. recommend to a friend who also got one in the 25% off sale the other week.

Encourages old cats to drink
I'd always thought a fountain would be a waste of time for my cats (their favourite spot to drink is the dirty puddle in the garden) but I finally succumbed after reading reviews saying it encouraged cats with renal failure to drink.....and it really does! I don't know whether it's the constant movement or the filtered water but my cats love it and are drinking far more than previously. The fountain is very quiet and looks very good. The cleaning is a bit complicated but only takes 5 minutes once a week. Shame the website doesn't stock the replacement filters.

Good if your pet will use it
My cat has a problem with plastic he develops acne around the mouth we were delighted when we saw a ceramic water fountain for him. It works well although the assembly instructions are not the best. The water is noisy and I frequently think the tap has been running during the night. It has been down for 2weeks now and I have yet to see him drink from it. The item could be used in hot weather to humidify the house as the shape and material are quite pleasing. If Charlie would use it I would say it was good although expensive for what it is. We also have a plastic variety which is more robust with exactly the same motor. Provided your pet does not have an allergy to plastic I would suggest that a better option especially for a dog to avoid accidents with the ceramic breaking.

Useful for cats who like drinking running water
We have has this for a few months and my cat loves drinking from it. My only gripe us that the filter needs to be changed often even though we use filtered water and clean the fountain every week. After about 2-3 weeks the flow dwindles and seems the only thing to do is change the filter.

Makes a mess
I bought this because my dog loves drinking from the garden hose or other running water. It is good quality and looks well made. The downside is that water splashes all over the floor when the dog drinks. I don’t think my dog drinks any more and she still loves the garden hose !

Very impressed!
I bought this a couple of weeks ago specifically for my cat who has suffered with Struvite stones in his urine and after my vet suggested that I should encourage him to drink more (the cat, not the vet!) As any feline owner will know, I’ve never yet found how you get a cat to do anything they don’t want to but having read favourable reviews online, I thought I’d give the Avalon a go. To be honest, part of my decision was based on asthetics as it is positioned in my conservatory and a lot of the cat fountains for sale are plastic monstrosities. As expected, when it arrived and was set up, my Bengal looked distainfully at the fountain and clearly thought I had put it there for my own benefit. He avoided it completely for the first few days although my Labrador knew immediately what it was about and proceeded to empty it by slurping the water all over the floor. However, in the last couple of days, I have regularly caught the cat having a discreet drink from the top of the fountain - I’ve rarely seen him drink from anywhere so I’m pleased that at last there is a breakthrough, which must benefit his issues. The quiet trickling sound is rather pleasant - I can’t hear any pump noises and it’s great that it can be put in the dishwasher to avoid the nasty, slimy usual pet water bowls. Pleased with my purchase and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Avalon.

Cats seem to like it
I bought this as I have elderly and special needs cats. The higher bowl makes it easier for them to drink and I didn't have any problem getting them to use it. Very good quality and the working parts are all replaceable. Please note Ocado did not sell the filters at the time I bought my bowl but they are easily available elsewhere.

Cat likes it, but it's a high maintenance product
I bought this for my ageing cat, who has kidney disease and drinks a lot of water. It took him a couple of weeks to get used to it; don't switch it on until your cat is used to seeing it and has started to drink from it. He likes it now and drinks happily from the bowl. It does require weekly cleaning, and the filters (purchased separately) need to be changed every few weeks, so it's quite high maintenance. On balance, I'm glad I bought it.
