This highly palatable complete diet is specially designed to ensure the production of a large volume of moderately acidic urine with low struvite and calcium oxalate Relative Supersaturation (RSS) levels. Royal Canin urinary diet will dissolve and prevent occurrence of struvite and prevent spontaneous homogeneous crystallisation of oxalate. Urinary S/O Canine effectively dissolves Struvite uroliths. An acidic urinary pH is unfavourable to the development of bacteria, which are frequently associated with Struvite uroliths. Diluting urine decreases the urinary concentration of struvites and calcium oxalates. The larger urinary volume also ensures regular bladder wash-out. Under saturated urine is an environment where crystals cannot proliferate. Thus the urine is unfavourable to the development of both Struvite and calcium oxalate crystals. Magnesium is a component of Struvite (magnesium ammonium phosphate) uroliths. The synergistic antioxidant complex (vitamin E, vitamin C, taurine, lutein) neutralises free radicals and help maintain the health of cells, DNA and the immune system.
Urinary is for the nutritional support of dogs in cases of:
- Bacterial cystitis
- Dissolution of Struvite uroliths
- Reduction of recurrent Struvite and calcium oxalate urolithiasis
Not recommended in cases of:
- Pregnancy, lactation, growth
- Chronic renal failure, metabolic acidosis
- Pancreatitis or history of pancreatitis
- Heart failure
- Hyperlipidaemia
- Use of urine-acidifying drugs

Recipe been changed
As my dog is only able to have this food, it was OK in the early days, however, after a rebrand of the SO range, it would appear that you have changed the ingredients. My dog has now come out in an allergic reaction to the food, constant discharge from the tear ducts believed to be the colouring used in the dry food. Constantly chewing and biting his paws. Exceptionally angry and dissapointed why you have changed something that was not a problem previously. No doubt to make it cheaper to manufacture, despite the ridiculous cost to the consumer.

Fingers crossed this does what it says
My 6 yo spaniel had a bladder stone removed earlier this year and to avoid others was recommended to go on one of the urinary support diets available to hopefully avoid her getting any others in future. She is fed both the kibble and wet versions together to make it more interesting for her and she is more than happy to eat it. Only time will tell if it's doing its job effectively but fingers crossed
