The SureFlap Microchip Cat Flap uses your cat’s existing microchip like an electronic door key to keep unwanted animals out of your home. The unique number on your cat’s microchip is permanently stored in the memory of the cat flap, even when the batteries are removed. When your cat approaches the cat flap from the outside, it reads their microchip and the door unlocks. It remains locked for any other animals who try to gain entry, creating a secure environment for your cat. Resident cats are less stressed once they realise their home is no longer being invaded.

Key features

  • Makes cats feel more comfortable in their own homes
  • No more fights or spray marking in the house
  • Compatible with all common microchips and the Sure Petcare RFID collar tag (not included)
  • Battery powered – requires 4 x AA batteries which last up to a year (not included)
  • Low battery indicator light gives you plenty of notice when the batteries need changing
  • Can be installed in doors, glass or walls
  • Four-way manual lock allows greater control of your cat’s entry or exit
  • Stores up to 32 pet identities

When installing into glass, the SureFlap Mounting Adapter is required. This is because glass requires a circular hole. The mounting adapter ensures that the flap fits into the glass correctly with no gaps. The adapter can also be used when installing into a wall as it leaves a smooth and clean finish.

    Excellent Investment

We were being plagued by a tomcat who was spraying in the house, so I had to keep the regular cat flap locked at night and when I was out. Therefore, one unhappy cat and one anxious person. Since installing the SureFlap, we're both happy again; she's no longer anxious and the house is no longer smelly. Providing the hole is cut to the right size (I had to enlarge our existing hole), the SureFlap is straightforward and easy to install, it registered the microchip instantly and it took all of two attempts for the cat to get used to it (slightly different shape from the old one). These flaps are not cheap, especially when you live on a pension, but it's worth every penny. Only caveat - the release catch that the microchip operates is rather small and not very strong. A really determined cat could bust its way in if it felt so inclined.

    Great product!

Great product. Exactly what I needed living in a street with lots of cats, which are a lot more dominant than mine. The product was easy to install and the instructions are clear. It was easy to set it to my cats microchips and picks up the chip no problem every time. The only slight issue I have with the flap is that my male cat is quite a big build so can only just about fit through. Would have given the product 5 stars if it had of been slightly bigger.

    So far so good...

I have two cats who already had a cat flap and were already chipped. Our problem was that one (or more?) neighbourhood cats were coming in via the cat flap and spraying in our house. Deeply unpleasant. This seemed worth a try if it worked and so far, it does. Cat number 1 had no problems and just treated it as if it was the same as the old flap. Cat no. 2 was more resistant but after finally working out that 'the nasty crunching noise' wasn't going to hurt her (and it was the only way she was going to get any food!) she got over her initial fear. Our house is smelling much better and so far, no other cat has worked out how to claw it open from the outside! If things stay as they are then well worth the money!

    A Winner

I bought this to replace an ordinary catflap, when a neighbour's aggressive cat started to come into the house at all times of the day and night. It was easy to fit and our cat took to it straight away. I only wish it would prevent him from dragging his "kills" in with him! Now that's a catflap I'd pay good money for.

Easy to fit and set up.

Posted by Foxinthebox on 2nd Jun 2015

I purchased the Sureflap cat flap about 5 weeks ago now. I found the installation instructions easy to follow and the registration of the cats microchip with the flap very simple. I was a bit wary at first as the stopper to lock the flap seemed a bit flimsy but my two kittens have rigorously tested it out and it has withstood some pretty hefty blows.

Really pleased with this product. Does what it says on the tin!! Easy to fit and very effective. Had to contact Pet Supermarket staff over a query. Their response was excellent. Staff are clearly well trained and very efficient as well as being very friendly and helpful. A pleasant experience all round.

We ordered this item on Saturday evening and it arrived Monday - fantastic service! It was well-packaged and instructions easily understood. Betty soon got the hang of using the flap after a few unsuccessful tries. It's put a stop to the pesky black bruiser that used to sneak in during the night and pinch her food! Brilliant product - wish I'd bought one years ago!!

    Cats won't use it

Posted by Tommy on 19th May 2015

The product looks great and the concept is fine. The only problem is that I've had it in place for 2 weeks now and the cats won't use it. The problems are that it clicks and scares them when then want to go through. It seems a bit smaller that the one I had before and there is a plastic extension on the outside where the microchip detecting mechanism is and it looks like it rubs on their belly so not very pleasant. I'm continuing to try all the options of keeping it open, turning off the click and using it as a normal catflap but they won't go near it now unless I physically hold the flap open and even then it takes me ages to get them through. I have very wet and miserable moggies!
